Hotel Description

The Argyll Hotel is less than 10 miles from Campbeltown on the main A83 road. It sits on Bellochantuy Bay on the west of the peninsula and features a large conservatory restaurant and a beach-side terrace. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, and the owners have 2 Dalmatians named Struan and Talaidh. A private beach can be accessed within a few steps of the patio. An en suite bathroom is provided in most rooms at the Argyll, along with a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. A full cooked breakfast is served each morning in the restaurant, which features views over the sea. Ingredients are locally sourced and each breakfast is made fresh on the premises. For guests planning to go island hopping, the ferry terminal can be reached in a 30-minute drive. A regular bus service from Oban (changes at Inverarry) and direct services from Glasgow can be taken from a stop right outside the hotel.

Campbeltown Airport is located 5kms northwest of Campbeltown, near the tip of Scotlands Kintyre peninsula. Until 1997 the airport was under military auspices, serving as a Royal Air Force and NATO air base. That is why this tiny airports runway is one of the longest in Europe. Today, the airport hosts regularly scheduled Loganair flights to and from Glasgow. The small terminal is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 until 17:30, and is closed on weekends (unless by arrangement). Among the areas attractions is the Machrihanish Golf Club, a few kilometres from the airport, which has the distinction of being voted as having the best 1st hole in the world. A small car park offers short- and long-term parking within walking distance of the terminal.
