Dating back to 1588, The Shelleys Hotel is a Grade II listed property with free private parking. Rooms have scenic garden views and Lewes Rail Station is only a 10-minute walk away and serves London, Brighton and Gatwick Airport. A flat-screen TV, bathrobes and slippers are provided in all rooms at Shelleys. These modern facilities are combined with Georgian décor and fireplaces. An à la carte lunch and dinner menu is available in the award-winning Apostrophe Restaurant, or on the brick-paved terrace overlooking the gardens. A full English breakfast is served daily in the dining room, and continental options are also available. The coastal towns of Brighton and Eastbourne are both within a 30-minute drive of the hotel, and are also accessible from Lewes Rail Station. Lewes’ historic Norman castle is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and Lewes Golf Club is only 1 mile away.

Firle Place is the home of the Gage family and has been for over 500 years. Set at the foot of the Sussex Downs within its own parkland, this unique House, originally Tudor, was built of Caen stone, thought to be from a monastery dissolved by Sir John Gage, friend of Henry VIII. Remodelled in the 18th century, it is now similar in appearance to that of a French Chateau. The house contains a magnificent collection of Old Master paintings, fine English and European furniture and an impressive collection of beautiful Sevres Porcelain.
