Welcome to Bodkin House Hotel

Address: Petty France, Badminton, GL9 1AF

Hotel Description

This 17th century coaching inn was mentioned in the novel 'Northanger Abbey' by Jane Austen after she visited the house during her childhood. It was built on the site of a 12th century priory which was destroyed by Henry VIII to provide rest to travellers on the Bath to Gloucester route. The inn was extended in the Georgian period to its present state. In more recent times, it has undergone an extensive makeover to ensure that the property's unique character is complimented by the convenience and reliability of modern amenities. On 3 acres of land with amazing landscaped gardens, guests can enjoy a quiet drink, eat al fresco or simply take a long stroll around the Water Garden, perfectly situated to the east of the main house to catch the sun and illuminated at night to enhance the colours.

Chipping Sodbury Golf Club - Bristol - Golf

Chipping Sodbury Golf Club - Bristol - Golf

Distance 3.63 miles (5.81 km)
12 miles North East of Bristol (South West England), the course is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty at the foot of the Cotswold hills and adjacent to the historic, characterful 17th century market town of Chipping Sodbury. This Fred Hawtree designed parkland course was opened in 1971. Subsequent maturing, development and care have given a superb course which presents a challenge to all levels of golfer. Water hazards are a feature on many holes and the greens, though large, play smaller than their size, as many of them are raised slightly from the surrounding terrain.

The Players Club - Bristol - Golf

The Players Club - Bristol - Golf

Distance 5.23 miles (8.37 km)
The Players Club is a new 18 hole championship course situated just one mile from junction 18 of the M4. Open in May 2002, one of the striking features is its maturity with woodland, lakes, trees and gorse coming into play. At over 7,600 yards, it's the longest course in the United Kingdom but from the front markers dips below 6,000 yards. Six sets of tees will ensure that whatever your handicap, you will enjoy your round. Put this on your 'must play' list as one notable golf writer said, "well, this is about as good as it gets".
