Family Break
I recently stayed at the Lansdowne in Manchester. Staff are so friendly and obliging. Rooms were very clean. Lovely bar and restaurant in the hotel. Hotel is right beside restaurants, pubs, and buses outside the door into the city centre. For a basic, clean and affordable accommodation I would recommend.

Very good for the price. Stayed one night for a concert at Manchester academy, right next to bus stop, cheap to get up there and back. Good facilities. Bed was very comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Very pleased and definitely will book again

Lansdowwne Hotel
The Hotel is at present undergoing renovation which does mean that the decoration etc is not up to standard. This means that the hotel presents a somewhat dowdy appearance at this moment, but all is not bad. The room was clean the sheets pristine, the room was serviced every day and presented well, towels folded neatly each day, tea and coffee replenished. Considering the hotel is on a busy road, it was quiet. The price was vey good and represented excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and welcoming I will definitely stay again.

Very Poor
We went to Manchester on the 21st of February 2014.

The hotel is quite out the way of things, but with bus routes going straight to the door. As we arrived into the hotel we noticed that it was a bit rough looking, but for 30 pounds, fair enough. From then on it went downhill.

As we arrived at the reception, the receptionist told us: '30 pounds? That seems cheap.'

to which we replied: 'Yes, that's why we booked it.'

After about 5 minutes of questioning, confirmation of price, booking numbers and reconfirmation, the receptionist called in another person, who may or may not have been the manager. We were then told: 'No, 30 pounds is too cheap.' As we had already paid for the hotel over a month beforehand and recieved the confirmation email from Lansdowne hotel themselves, we found this very odd. We were told we had to pay another ten pounds on top of the initial price. Despite offers of showing the confirmation email from both Lansdowne and the booking site, we were told: 'No, sorry. We can not give you the room to the agreed price, you must have made a mistake when ordering.' I told them there had been no mistake on our side, as after all the price was the reason we decided to stay there and it clearly said on the booking they had printed in front that we had a room reserved, paid for and ready for two people. Eventually, after about a total of twenty minutes, we were told that they would 'honour' the purchase this time, but that we shouldn't try and do that again.

I can with certainty say that never have I ever been accused of fraud or asked to pay more than the agreed price upon arrival at any hotel. The room itself was not worth the 40 pounds they wanted, the bathroom was something out of a horror film with a toilet seat worn to discolouration, bed linen which had holes in about 3 or 4 places - albeit it did not seem dirty. Overall, this hits top 5 worst hotels I have stayed in. Unless Lansdowne decided to renovate their image I would not recommend this hotel.

Friendly And Fun
Travelled from Birmingham with friends to stay overnight on a busy Halloween saturday, Was welcomed by very friendly owner who gavce my friend a free shot for her birthday, the room was basic but clean and tidy, the hilton this is not but its Clean, Friendly and the staff are AWESOME would deffo rather stay here again than in the centre on Manchester, only a £10 taxi ride from centre and buses outside as well as shops and local bars, so yes I recommended this hotel for a no frills budget stay with warm friendly staff and great local transport :)

Really Pleased
Really happy with the accommodation. It wasn't the ritz (obviously as its a budget hotel) but it was very clean and quite a large room. Extra pillows were in the wardrobes, large tv in the room and a large bath were pleasant surprises. Very neutral colour scheme in bedroom and bathroom. Although located on a main road, I didn't hear any traffic and slept like a baby during my stay. The staff were all very friendly and accomodating, even printing my boarding passes for me and helping me find my way about Manchester. All in all I was very satisfied with my stay at the lansdowne and I will be staying there again on my next trip to Manchester. I would highly recommend the lansdowne if you are looking for a cheap but clean and comfortable stay in Manchester.

Cheap And Cheerful. Good Stay!
I booked the room a day before my actual stay. When I saw the £25 price tag, I snapped up the offer. I just needed it as I was attending a wedding in the area and needed a room ASAP. Check in was simple enough, 10 pound deposit and then away I went. Room was clean, fresh and better than expected! Had to let the water run for a while to get it warm but all worked fine. Comfy bed, nice stay, suited me perfectly. Will definitely use again.

Does Exactly What It Says On The Tin
I found the lansdowne to be perfect for our needs. I was part of a group going to the Stone Roses manchester homecoming gigs. I have to say, I was very satisphied with the hotel. It was very cheap, and the rooms were nothing fancy, with warm water for the shower and clean towels. I'd stay there again.

Some of our party did order a breakfast in the morning that was not nice at all. I would tell anyone considering this to go to eat somewhere else away from the hotel.

Not Quite What The World Has Been Waiting For
Not too sure how to review this....

I'll start with the cons -

Its a bit of a dump, as we arrived my mate said 'there's faulty towers, hope that's not where we're staying!

' and the interior decor is as bad as the exterior!

The radiator in my room was faulty and had no dial to turn it off, the dial had obviously been broken off many years ago... Which is rubbish when it's warm outside, the room was boiling come the night time, this caused me to sleep with the window open... And I was woken at 6am each morning with the traffic due to this.

The breakfast is rank, I found a large bit of bone in the first bite of my sausage, the hotel did refund me the money for breakfast for the following two days tho!

I had a really large hole in my mattress with a spring poking out.... No joke!

It's all a bit old and grimy

Pro's for the stay -

It was cheaper than all other hotels in the area! We went for the weekend to see the stone roses gigs and loads of other hotels bumped their prices up beforehand making it unaffordable to stay for the full weekend.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless their planning on getting really drunk each night and it's just a place to lay your head and you can't afford anywhere else.

I was travelling in a group that were staying at a different hotel. I had been slightly concerned that I was staying on my own but the hotel staff were so friendly, warm and helpful. The room was comfortable and fine for what I needed it for(sleeping and showering). The room was secure. I did need earplugs as the group next door were extremely loud at awkward times of the nights but that's not a problem if you're prepared. Overall, very pleased. For around £30 a night you can't really complain. I had the full English breakfast in the mornings too which was lovely.

Lansdowne was straight forward to find (I printed off a map at home) (travelling by car)and they had off road overnight parking -not much, but there were a few spaces available.
